What happens when you take a Quella Nero and put it through one of Britain’s famous universities? You end up with a Quella Varsity Oxford – the same fun, low maintenance and track-inspired speedster, but one which has graduated with added refinement and sophistication.

The new members of the Quella Varsity range feature a number of improvements over our Nero models for those who wish to combine classic single speed riding with first class componentry and a top quality frame.

The 'Classic' range offers riser handlebars with grips and a comfy saddle. We also know everyone has different riding positions so we have included an adjustable stem on all our Classic range so you can amend your riding position to suit your preference.

Built around an upgraded 4130 chromoly frame and fork with double butted tubing, the Varsity models are lighter, faster and stronger feature sealed headset bearings, an intricate aluminium 44T crank, and a full Quella Varsity Premium finishing kit for improved comfort and performance.

Our stunning Varsity Oxford is finished in a classic Oxford Blue coloured frame with complementary Quella Varsity premium finish kit.  Like the two great universities, it competes with the Varsity Cambridge for the top spot.

Quella Varsity Oxford

A fabulous bike. And an exceptional service and customer care from Quella.

And I'm a dithering old codger, coming up to 70 - living in hilly Devon - who should never, ever have bought a single gear bike.

But they are such great fun to ride. As in an exhilarating joy!

The gear ratio is a little high, for an out of condition old fool who last cycled 15 years ago - and the good people at Quella offered to send me a higher cog and adjusted chain to make riding a little easier for an old croc like me.

I needed my good old state pension to arrive to pay for the parts, so I kept to level surfaces. I should have waited.

Because a catastrophe struck - I pulled in to let a car pass on the narrow lanes, and as gently as I could began to push the pedal.

But managed to "pop" my knee.

It'll take months for the ligaments to fix themselves.

So now I'm still gazing with admiration at the gleaming machine knowing that I won't be able to ride it for ages. I'll then be too ancient to try!

I'm desperately trying to find someone who'll buy my "pride and joy" bike and let it do what it most wants - give the most enjoyment possible to the rider.

Wish me luck in finding a "Single Speed" devotee living in the steep hills of Devon!

a nice ride at default

made no real changes other than my own seat and its can handle flat terrain and reasonable hills with ease and comfort. feels like the bike would benefit from more mounting points but that's incredibly minor for a great bike.

Amazing bike from the start.. Colour is super nice and so are the finishing touches of tan and chrome. I have ridden over 300 miles so far on this bike with no issues or regrets. I wouldn't change anything. Worth the extra over the Nero too for the chromoly frame and sealed bearings etc.

I was very satisfied with the level of service, every step felt personal and honest. I would highly recommend Quella to anyone wanting a great single speed bike that looks and rides great. The build quality is first class, easy to do the final assembly and rides like it looks, sleek.
