We have joined forces with charity, Life Cycle, to launch a limited edition geared bike, helping to support the charity and the individuals whose lives are changed through its cycling initiatives. Life Cycle is a charity that helps individuals overcome barriers to cycling, from providing cycling adventures for people with disabilities, to providing rehabilitative bike mechanic training in prisons, Life Cycle's work reaches thousands across the South West.
This exclusive geared bike combines everyday practicality with clean, minimalist design. We have paired the classic Quella black frame with tan detailing on the handles, seat and wheel rims, to give the bike a timeless but edgy look and feel. Life Cycle branding is featured intricately and discreetly on the cap to add a pop of colour. For every bike sold, 25% goes directly to the charity, helping fund their inclusive cycling initiatives across the South West.
About Life Cycle
Can you give us an overview of Life Cycle’s mission and how the charity started?
Our mission is to help more people experience the benefits of cycling – transforming lives and the environment.
We work with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to support people on their cycling journey, from learning to ride, to building a career in the bike industry. Life Cycle was founded in 1999 to make cycling more accessible and promote active travel. Since forming, we've supported over 87,000 people through bike-based activities - particularly reaching out to people who need extra support on their cycling journey. This includes training 1,475 prisoners as mechanics, refurbishing 7,696 bikes for the community, and teaching 31,894 children to cycle.
What inspired the charity to champion cycling as a tool for wellbeing, empowerment, and positive impact?
We were inspired by the belief that cycling has the power to transform lives and can be accessible to most people, if they receive the right support. It’s been proven as a tool for improving health, freedom, and connection - helping people improve their well-being, build confidence, and reduce social isolation.
We’re passionate about creating a healthier, greener, and more inclusive society where everyone can benefit from the joy of cycling.
The Healing Power of Bikes
What do you think is so powerful about bikes and cycling on people of all ages and backgrounds?
Cycling gives a sense of freedom and allows people to connect with each other. One example is on our Two’s Company rides:
After being involved in a car crash, Jenny was left blind fearing she’d never cycle again. Finding ways to exercise and connect with others became a lot harder, and getting into the countryside independently was almost impossible. Joining Two's Company changed her life.
“It certainly helps visually impaired people hugely to get out and about and help with some fitness and get them to meet other people. A lot of blind people are very isolated, and it opens up a new world, really.”
– Jenny H, Two's Company participant
Two's Company is about more than a cycle - it’s about leaving isolation behind, experiencing adventure together and making lifelong friends. Jenny even met her partner of over 10 years through Two's Company, and they still cycle with us today.
What’s the most rewarding part of supporting people through cycling?
The most rewarding part of supporting people through cycling, is being able to work with people from all walks of life at all stages of their cycling journey. For example, our Youth Project engages young people through imaginative and inspiring cycle-related activities, helping them develop new skills and confidence.
Jamie, a young person from a deprived area in Bristol, struggled in school but found a passion for bikes through free cycle sessions at our Youth Project. He developed an interest in bike mechanics and began volunteering at 16. We offered Jamie a fully funded bursary for his first accredited bike mechanics course, boosting his confidence and skills. He now plans to study vehicle engineering at college and hopes to one day open his own garage.
Additionally, our Bikes Beyond Bars initiative trains prisoners as bike mechanics, providing them with valuable skills and a sense of hope for a crime-free future. Witnessing these transformations and knowing that our efforts contribute to a healthier, more connected society is incredibly fulfilling.
How to get involved
Head to our Limited Edition Bikes to check get your bike now - whether you’re commuting or riding for pleasure, this collaboration offers the chance to support a great cause while enjoying a well-built, eye-catching bike.
How can people get involved with Life Cycle:
We rely on bike donations for our recycling project, Bikes Beyond Bars. Without donations, we couldn’t train prisoners to become mechanics or sell quality refurbished bikes at our Hub! If you want to support our charitable projects, you can also donate via our website. We’re very grateful for your support.
You can keep an eye out for upcoming roles on our Volunteering and Jobs page.
