The Next Generation of Quella Electric:
We’re very excited to announce the latest upgrade to our electric bike range, with Quella now moving from the Zehus Gen 2 electric hub to the new Zehus HALOS Gen 3.
The Zehus system has always been a great fit for our electric bikes, giving us a way to add electric assistance while keeping the clean, lightweight and simple design that makes a Quella a Quella. With the introduction of the Gen 3, that system has taken another big step forward.
At the centre of the upgrade is a larger 200Wh battery, helping to increase range by up to 25% compared with the previous generation. The Gen 3 hub also features enhanced power modes, giving riders more control over how much assistance they want while out on the road.

More Control, More Range:
Riders can choose between four power modes: No Assistance (freewheel), Eco, Custom and Turbo, with the 250W motor delivering up to 40Nm of torque. Depending on the assistance mode and riding conditions, Zehus quotes an average range of around 30km in Turbo and up to 50km in Eco.
The system also retains one of our favourite Zehus features: KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). By back-pedalling, riders can activate regenerative braking and recover energy back into the battery while riding.
Keeping Things Lightweight:
Despite the additional battery capacity, the new generation remains incredibly compact and lightweight. The entire system comes in at just 3kg, combining the motor, battery, electronics and sensors within the rear hub.
This brings our Varsity Electric down to a modest 13kg overall, with no bulky external battery or unnecessary cabling across the bike.
The Same Quella Made Better:
For us, moving to the Zehus Gen 3 is about improving what already worked. More range, updated technology and better performance, without taking away from the simplicity and lightweight feel of our electric bikes.
The new generation of Quella electric bikes is here, and we’re very excited for you to ride them.
