About Us

Pure. Simple. Fast.

At Quella, we believe cycling should feel effortless, elegant and exhilarating — just as it was always meant to be.

Where it all began…

Quella wasn't born in a boardroom. It started in a Cambridge living room, where Mark, our bike-mad founder, transformed his passion for fixed-gear bikes into something more. Tired of life on building sites, he spent evenings and weekends assembling stylish, minimalist bicycles—driven by a love of simplicity and pure cycling joy.

It was scrappy, it was honest, and it laid the foundation for what would become Britain’s most iconic single-speed brand.

Rough roads ahead

The first frames arrived. The paintwork? Rougher than a British country lane. Mark stripped each frame back to bare metal and perfected their finish—because quality, for us, is non-negotiable.

Launching into the cycling boom

Summer 2012 was electric. Team GB conquered the Olympic Velodrome and the Tour de France rolled through town. From a friend’s humble workshop, Quella officially launched. Demand soared, and with the right investment (cheers, Mike!), we moved into our first “global HQ” (a converted chicken coop!) and debuted the Varsity Collection—still our flagship range today.

Built for the city

  • Hi-tensile steel frames for smooth, road-softening comfort
  • Flip-flop hubs for fixed or freewheel freedom
  • Deep-V wheels that balance speed with street durability
  • Low-maintenance components so you ride more and wrench less

Growing together

Today, our HQ is slicker but our spirit is the same. We build and ride bikes we love, collaborate with Ted Baker, Buffalo Foundation, &Sons, and craft custom builds for hundreds of riders. Team Quella even claimed the UK Street Velodrome title—twice.

Our promise to you

A Quella isn’t just a bike—it’s a choice to simplify your ride, savour every moment, and embrace cycling as it was meant to be. Your first Quella won’t be your last—not because it wears out, but because it changes how you feel about every pedal stroke.
